Visit
to Vaniyambadi
Following
the completion of phase I of the
construction
of the school in Vaniyambadi,India,
the governing
body of the HIRA Society, in
gratitude
for all the donations and continued
support
from the
HEAT foundation, extended
their
kind invitation to Umar Shariff, founder of
the
H.E.A.T. foundation, to be the guest of honour
at
the official opening and
dedication of the
school
in late 2011.
Umar Shariff kindly accepted the invitation
and
visited India where he had the opportunity
to
experience first hand the difficulties local
children
face and how contributions from the
HEAT
Foundation are making a world of difference
to the children's lives.
The
pictures show the completed and fully operational
phase
I of the project - The ground floor. Phase II of
the project, the construction of the second floor, will
commence as soon as more funds are available.

The
school caters for all children, providing equal
opportunities
for boys as well as for girls

Plaque
of recognition
The
HEAT foundation also sponsors a program
to
provide the children with a hot lunch everyday.
For some, this would be their only meal of the day.
It is important to ensure that the children are well
nourished
as this will
help in their mental as well as
their
physical development and is a good incentive
to
attend school.

the
curriculum the children are taught

An
interesting story:
The mother of the little boy and girl in blue taught
basic
sign language
to the girl in white so that she
could
help them communicate with the teacher and
understand
the lessons, as they are both profoundly
deaf and
cannot speak!!
Zabiullah's
eyesight is rapidly deteriorating, making his
life
a little more difficult than it has to be. The HEAT
Foundation
will be sponsoring the laser surgery that
will
restore his sight to normal so Zabiullah can
enjoy
life like the other children.
